Emmy Nominations are out...and it looks like last year's list

It's that time of year again and while I have been basically successful in my attempt to eschew awards shows this year, I can't help but smile at some of the nominations.  Chief among them is Game of Thrones for Outstanding Drama Series and Peter Dinklage for the same, as well as both Margo Martindale and Timothy Oliphant for Justified.  Though inexplicably I see Kathy Bates on the list for the most horrendous show on television: Harry's Law.  While there are many people on the list who deserve their nominations, I can't help but feel that it looks like last year's list, recycled.  I'm hoping, however, that Amy Poehler will get her due this year even though fellow SNL alum Tina Fey is still a nominee (or even Laura Linney as she's outside the SNL connection).

For the full list of nominees, check out The Emmy Website.

  1. A lot of talk prior to the nominations was about Laura Linney winning for Outstanding Lead Performance in a Comedy Series (what a mouthful!). She's great in the show and I have always loved her, and apparently she's three for three with previous Emmy nominations (two for actress in a miniseries, and one for guest actress on Frasier). I don't think Edie Falco or Tina Fey have a shot this year, and I'd be thrilled to see Amy Poehler win, but if Martha Plimpton wins, I'll be just as happy!
